Architecture Research Lab spent some time on Gotts Island, Maine this Summer and wanted to make furniture to enjoy the beautiful views of Acadia National Park. Unfortunately, we were short on materials and a trip to the hardware store was out of the question for at least two weeks. We found a mast from an old ship that washed ashore, as well as a great collection of planks from unusually fine lobster crates that had a great patina. The style was inspired by Ben Forgey’s beautiful furniture.

We fashioned a bench, two chairs and a small table.

The view of Bass Harbor Light at Sunset is now much more enjoyable.
